Our Favourite Plant-Based Christmas Recipes

Our Favourite Plant-Based Christmas Recipes

2020 has certainly been a different year for us, where our lives have been changed significantly. So why not finish 2020 as it has played out and make this Christmas different by going plant-based? Not only could you beat the bloat and the sluggishness from the usual Christmas spread; reducing your meat intake over the festive period, could help save the planet and reduce carbon emissions.

If 2020 has sparked your appetite for change then look no further! We have partnered with the amazing Kimberley of @thelittleplantation to bring you this inspirational festive Christmas menu, filled with plant-based simplicity, from breakfasts to sides, canapés to boxing day leftover recipes. We have a wide range of festive plant-based treats to pick and choose from.

Chestnut French Toast

This is the perfect festive breakfast to set you up for Christmas Day.

Mini Toast with Chestnut Spread & Roasted Grapes

We may not be entertaining as much as we would have liked this year, but that’s no reason to not celebrate Christmas in fine style.  These little plant-based bites can be perfectly up or down-sized, depending on the amount of mouths you have to feed. Aside from that, they’re super simple to make and are deliciously festive! We recommend bottling the leftover chestnut spread, to use on every slice of toast you make over the festive period – it’s addictively delicious!

Lentil Pigs in Blankets

How do you make a Christmas Day staple, like pigs in blankets completely plant-based? By using lentils of course! So good that you needn’t bother with the real thing. The great thing about using Puy lentils, is their meat-like flavour and the fact that they hold their texture well. Unlike other vegan sausages, one portion counts towards 1 of your 5 a day, so they come with significantly less guilt!  They are also naturally high in protein.

Red Cabbage Salad with Caramelised Chestnuts

Nothing says Christmas like chestnuts, citrus, dried fruit, cinnamon and cloves and this side dish has it all. Not only does it look beautifully colourful, but the depth of flavour that comes with all of the sweet & savoury festive notes of the ingredients, take this Christmas day side plate to a whole new level.

Chestnut and Mushroom Tart

Earthy, creamy, nutty and flaky – this is not only a great recipe to have as a centre piece on the Christmas table, but also works well kept in the fridge and served up for lunch over the festive hols with a salad.

Beetroot, Chestnut & Lentil Wellington

Who needs a Christmas turkey when you have this force of nature in the shape of a Wellington! Full of natural ingredients and a nutty, earthy depth of festive flavour you’d never find in roasted meat! The great thing about about the Wellington recipe, is that it can also be made in advanced and warmed on the day, so you don’t have to worry about cooking times and timings.

Chestnut Vanilla Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

The combination of vanilla and chestnuts makes the perfect Christmas cake that is light and full of festive flavour; topped with a decadent plant-based, vanilla, frosting, there is nothing not to love about this pudding!

Mushroom & Lentil Boxing Day Burger

We hate food waste and boxing day is the perfect time to make sure you reduce any food waste by consuming all the left overs! You can also easily keep the festive food experience rolling over into Boxing Day with this hearty and satisfying plant-based boxing day burger, made from the leftover ingredients used in this menu!
