This month we spoke to Craig about all things Technical. Read on to find out about the highs (and lows) of his role, his favourite food spot and podcast!
Explain your job in one or two sentences:
It’s my job to make sure all MG products are made to the highest quality and safety standards. I regularly visit and speak to our suppliers to understand their quality and safety controls and work closely with them to continually improve. I also work closely with our Product team to support the delivery of our exciting future product pipeline.
Tell us about a typical day to day in your role at MG?
No day is ever the same at MG! I think of my role in 2 parts – proactive and reactive.
I’m currently working on creating our new Quality and Safety Management System, so I’m writing lots of new policies and procedures which will allow the whole team to work more cohesively together as the business continues to grow. For example, our new supplier and product approval processes enables the team to consistently launch new products being confident there are the right checks and balances along the journey.
The reactive part of my job involves managing any product or supplier related incidents that may occur throughout any stage of the supply chain. It requires fast risk assessment and decision making to ensure that all our MG products retain their reputation for being safe and high quality.
What’s the best part about working at MG?
The team! We are a small yet ambitious group who work very closely together to support each other, whilst focussing on our shared goal to expand the MG brand into new product categories.
What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role?
I’m required to stay up to speed with the specific quality and safety controls for each new product type we look into. This involves lots of independent research, conversations with potential new suppliers or speaking to external experts where necessary.
You’re stuck on an island for one week and you can take an unlimited supply one of MG product. What are you taking?
Mexican-Style Grains. It’s got a bit of a kick and I love the smoky paprika flavour – hopefully there’ll be a lime tree on this island to add some extra zing!
What's your most prized possession and why?
I own far too many houseplants that I now obsess over thanks to Covid.
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
I’d love to do a paragliding pilot course so I can fly solo.
Where’s your favourite food spot in London?
Broadway Market.
Which podcast or series are you currently hooked on?
Comfort Eating with Grace Dent!
Best piece of advice you’ve been given:
Ask for forgiveness, not permission.
