Ingrédients
- 2 pouches of Merchant Gourmet Puy Lentils (500g)
- 8 cloves of garlic
- 5 spring onions
- 1 chilli
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 lime
- 50g breadcrumbs
- 2 onions
- 1 red pepper
- 400ml pineapple juice
- 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 180ml ketchup
- 100g light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- Salt
- Vegetable oil
Méthode
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Blend the Puy Lentils, 4 cloves of garlic, 3 spring onions, chilli with the 2 tbsps soy sauce and juice of a lime to form a smooth paste. Then add in the breadcrumbs and give it a good mix. Taste the mixture and add a pinch of salt if needed.
- Roll the mixture into golf ball sized balls. Pop these onto a baking tray and bake for 30 mins.
- Chop the onions and peppers into large chunks.
- Finely chop the remaining garlic and finely slice the spring onions.
- Add a glug of oil into a pan and then fry the onions and peppers for 3 mins. Add in the garlic and then cook for 1 minute.
- Add in the pineapple juice, apple cider vinegar, ketchup and light brown sugar. Give it a good mix and bring it to a boil.
- Make a cornflour slurry by mixing 2 tbsp of cornflour with 2 tbsp of water. Add this into the pan and cook for 3 mins.
- Add in your now-cooked meatballs and give it a good mix.
- Serve with steamed rice and a sprinkle of sliced spring onions.
Good to know!
This quick and easy dish is best served with a portion of steamed rice but feel free to get adventurous in the kitchen. Meatball sub anyone?!

Hi, the ingredients list has 4 tblsp soy sauce but the method only mentions 2. I assume the 4 tblsp go into the lentil balls?
Thank you

Hi Magda, the oven should be pre-heated to 180C. You can find lots of healthier Ketchup alternatives – we love Dr Wills. Hope this helps!
What temp should the oven be
Ketchup is really unhealthy alternative please
